Re: [Linux] Shadwen fails to launch because of no libpng12.s

Hi shmerl! I think the dependency is indirect one via WXWidgets, which would explain it being required only by the launcher (haven't checked tho, but would make sense). We'll take a look if the dependency could be dropped or bundled with the game, but currently I do not know about our patching sched...

Re: [Linux] XDG base directory spec isn't followed

Hi shmerl!

Sorry that we haven't changed the base directory location yet, but I'm currently changing the code to comply with XDG specs, so unless something disasterous happens, the game should use correct base directory at launch :)

Thanks for the reminder!

Re: Trine for Linux fails to start with X library error

Glad to hear the game is working!

To troubleshoot this, did you just remove bundled libraries until you stopped getting errors?

Pretty much, tho I started with moving all the X libraries at once since those were the most probable cause of the issue, after that it was lib-by-lib thing :)

Re: Trine for Linux fails to start with X library error

Hello again! I went ahead and installed Mint 16 32bit on a VBox and tested this out. Some of the libraries bundled with Trine are getting bit old and the problem you mentioned has to do with the newer version of X being incompatible with some libraries included. I was able to get the game (and launc...

Re: Trine for Linux fails to start with X library error

Hello elderman! I'm terribly sorry for the long wait. Have you tried directly running the game, skipping the launcher? You can do this from terminal for example by navigating to the directory where Trine was installed and typing "./trine-bin32" If you get ALSA error ending in segfault remo...

Re: no audio- Debian Wheezy

Hello pbcartwright!

I'm not entirely familiar how original Trine handles its audio, but one thing you could try is to launch the game with padsp command in front. This has sometimes helped with pulse-audio related issues.

Let us know if it helps, and if it does not we'll investigate further.

Re: Trine 2 Linux Performance

Hello Dominor! There are few things that may (or may not) affect the games performance in Linux. One thing that can have quite big impact is the desktop environment used (Unity at least used to be the biggest performance eater while XFCE and LXDE are on the lighter side). Even though these days the ...

Hello Goldfighter! If I don't remember completely wrong, they should both be binded to pressing of the left stick. Hi BurningNight!

Another thing that might be worth a shot if your friend is using Windows 8 64bit is to try the run the game in compatibility mode. With the latest windows 8 patch there were some issues appearing with the game, but for most they've been resolved by doing so.

Hello kopolov! libSDL.1.3.so.0 should come bundled with the game itself and the launching script (Trine2.sh in the root directory of the game) should add its location to LD_LIBRARY_PATH. libjpeg on the other hand is dependency of wxwidgets I believe and shouldn't be required by the game itself. I do...

Hello ssokolow! Thank you for positive feedback on the first-run wizard! I wasn't really sure if users would "approve" of it over the more traditional installers. Very nice suggestions, I will look in to adding them to the script, hopefully in the near future. EDIT: I've added these change...

Re: Trine 2 fails to launch (glibc issue?)

Hello captmustard1! The issue you're having seems like having older version of glibc which is unsupported. We've moved all of our Linux building from an old Ubuntu 10.xx (can't recall which) in to a Ubuntu 12.04 machine which means the version requirement for glibc has gone up to 2.15 while wheezy o...
