Re: Path finding used in Trine

Hi, Joel got it about right (not bad for a PR guy). In fact, the skeletons have no pathfinding whatsoever, the only logic they have is walking towards the player and using helpers. The helpers are enabled or disabled based on the player's position. In addition to jumping and climbing helpers we have...

Re: Shadowgrounds Ending Cinematic

I think you should write it like this:

Re: Fan Art Thread

That's great, you're certainly the first person to create fan art based on my work! My favourite is the pencil version of the frozen guy. I also like how you use that character in the logo, as his shape resembles our official logo. Makes me think of a cool animation where the guy gets frozen and tur...

Hi, You can get a similar camera angle without entering the fps mode. In the console (f8) enter: setValue 0;setOptionValue camera_autozoom_enabled setCameraZoom 0 setCameraBetaAngle 0 setUnitByIdString player1;hideUnit That should work with both fixed an free camera mode. In free camera mode you can...

You can also disable all lighting except the flashlight to get the same effect in a top-down view. Just type these commands into the console: setLightmapBrightness 0 setColormapBrightness 0 \render_fakelights 0 disableLightgroup 0 ... disableLightgroup 9 The scripts mess with some of these, for exam...

These script commands should do it: setValue 0;setOptionValue render_fakelights You can type them in the console or call them from one of your mission scripts. Disabling fakelights can affect some other lighting effects as well, but I don't think there's a better way. You can also call disablePlayer...

Interesting. Could you give me some details (which level, where the cutscene got triggered etc.) You certainly shouldn't get stuck if you complete the tasks in a wrong order.

Hi,

Just fixed the provectus bug, thanks for reporting!

As for the airlock, I tested it and it should work. All the players should stand in the middle of the airlock for it to work, though, perhaps this was the problem?

Re: I'm just curious...

...was the development of this game inspired in any way by Abuse? Well, I loved Abuse, and altough it's quite different, the game has crossed my mind a few times when developing shadowgrounds. Another gameplay Q: how will the Z-axis be handled? If you mean the height axis, there's an autoaim system...

The flashlight is mounted on the player's shoulder, and can be used all the time unless it runs out of power.

We've discussed flares, but mostly for mission specific purposes. As for lighting up the enviroment in general, we have the flashlight to cover most of these situations. I personally find the flashlight a much better alternative for several reasons. It creates a very intense athmosphere, when you ca...

It would be cool, but I'm afraid it won't make it to the game. The game's been built for top-down perspective, and bringing the camera down will cause some problems.

The problems aren't unsolvable, though, so if one of us is left with some extra time in the project, who knows...

Qraft, that's mean... but it works:

1. No. It wouldn't be too wise anyways, since many aliens prefer darkness.

2. Not in it's purest form, but we do use similar effects to build up tension.

3. You can't save anywhere you like, the game is automatically saved in predefined locations.
