Re: Tower Level - Frozenbyte fails!

I think it's up to the developer to take all views into consideration, since at the end of the day it's the gamers who buy the games and support the company in the first place. As stated, everyone has their own opinion and experience, trying to imply that they're mutually exclusive isn't reasonable....

Re: Tower Level - Frozenbyte fails!

I'm going to agree with what seems to be a high number of people here, I also strongly dislike the last level. As has been stated repeatedly, it's completely out of character with the rest of the game. Those of you that say "that's what makes it rewarding" etc, I'm sorry but that's nonsens...

There are 20 secret parts in the game, and 20 standard levels (not counting the ones at the end end of the game). As far as I can tell there's one part per level, certainly it seemed that way. I could be wrong. If you replay the levels you can probably find the parts you missed and if it's anything ...

** minor spoilers herein ** Well, Shadowgrounds Survivor is absolutely cracking. A perfect sequel, IMHO, the 3 character system is genius, particularly in dividing up the weapons so you don't just use the same two or three the whole time, and the individual character upgrade is an great new touch. ...

If you look in the ZIP file there's a text file explaining what you do. It isn't a MOD, it's an addon, and the most important thing is NOT to overwrite any existing files. If you already have a data1.fbz, data2, and data3, say, then rename the mod file to data4.fbz and copy it in with the others. Ma...

Sound is a good call, my SB Live 5.1 is definitely the weakest link in my spec, but normally that crops up as sound stuttering problems. I'll see how my friends fare when they get to the same levels. Don't worry about the forum colours, I think it's just me. My 19" CRT has real contrast issues,...

Duly modified, apologies for making assumptions about the engine, the combination of the high-end visuals and running through Steam made me automatically compare it to HL-2.. Looks like Valve have some serious competition! Removed the savegame bug reference, and also managed to stop myself from usin...

Shadowgrounds Review

Note: This is a teaser review for Shadowgrounds which I've already used for a forum that a bunch of friends and I use to discuss games and movies etc. I'm planning to stick a modified version of it on other official gaming sites as I find them, but I thought I'd stick it here first and see what peo...

New Forum's a little dark... Is this permanent? Thanks for your suggestions and comments, which I tried without much noticeable difference, but they were appreciated nevertheless. Mercifully, though ironically (or perhaps signficantly) the problem only occured one more time before I finished (sob) t...

Top Mod, mate, and I love the title track pic and music remix... Definitely potential here to do a Total Conversion, what do you reckon? Assuming you're not doing one already..! Have only just go to the "alien" levels in the game so I've yet to see your altered textures, looking for...

Alien Breed remake (something to play between SG levels!)

Playing the glorious Shadowgrounds has really whet my appetite for playing the Amiga classic Alien Breed again. For those of you who've not seen it, it's along similar lines to SG, but was written back in the early 90's by Team 17, and is a top down shooter with hordes of nasty aliens, loads of weap...

Slow Framerate Issue - revisited

Hola. I'm starting this in a new thread because the issues raised in other threads don't seem to be consistent with the one I'm having. The problem is this: Certain areas of the map completely destroy the framerate. It's consistent, if I move away from that area the FPS improves. It only started hap...

Excellent, that worked a treat, thanks! Still playing through, and loving it, expect two more purchases shortly from two of my mates...! From scanning the forum you're obviously very willing to listen to feedback, I have two minor points which I'd like to mention, although this might not be the righ...

Thanks indeed!

Hear, hear! :D I used to play Alien Breed back on the Amiga 500, I played the pretty much unheard of but massive and highly entertaining Take No Prisoners on my old P2 400, and I'm a huge fan of Crimsonland which is a great little budget game for anyone who loves overhead shooters, lots of weapons a...

Quick and easy question: How do you take screenshots from Shadowgrounds ? I write reviews on another forum for my gaming friends and I'd like to do one for this classic so I can persuade them to buy their own copies. Hence I'd like to get some screengrabs but I couldn't find anywhere how to do it. I...
