(Solved) Ubuntu upgrade broke Trine

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and I have found that, since the upgrade, I have been unable to run Trine. When running the launcher this is the output I see at the console: ./trine-launcher (trine-launcher64:2455): Gtk-WARNING **: ./lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.11' not ...

Re: How to use poison?

I found the same thing. I kept trying to figure out how to use items/equip when I first started playing.

Re: Abilities

Ah, that's probably why. I usually give enhancing items to the wizard so he can make more platforms and such. I might not have noticed if the item could also give a bonus to the thief.

I don't think I've seen the thief shoot more than three arrows.... I wonder if I'm missing a special object?

Re: trine linux version available?

The Linux version of Trine is back at the Humble Bundle http://www.humblebundle.com/
If you buy the current bundle for $5 or more then they throw in the FrozenByte pack, which includes Trine. It's a pretty great deal.

Re: The infamous last level on PS3 - questionnaire - SPOILER

I was running Trine on PC, so my input may not be valid. That being said... 1. I disliked the last level. It felt quite a bit different from the others (vertical instead of horizontal play, time limit, enemy wizard). 2. I started with normal difficulty. 3. I did change the difficulty level to beat t...

Has Trine arrived in the Ubuntu Software Centre? It would be nice to have that as an easy way to install it on new machines.

Re: Levitating Amadeus

I'm terrible at the flying thing too. But I find I usually don't need it. What works really well for me is creating a floating block near where I want to go. Then I switch to the thief and grapple onto the block, swing up onto it and then jump to my destination. It has the benefits of flying with th...

Re: Possible bug with the knight?

You should be extra excited for Trine 2 then :D I am, though I admit to being a little concerned about the hardware requirements. My modest video card struggles on Trine if I go above "medium" graphics quality. It looks like Trine 2 will have more advanced graphics. I'm hopeful my machine...

Re: Possible bug with the knight?

I do. It has quickly become one of my favourites. I love the flexibility the three different characters give for puzzle solving. The developers/artists/designers really did a great job.

Possible bug with the knight?

Hi all. I think I've found a bug with the knight character and I'm wondering if there is a way to correct the situation I ran into, or if it's there by design. Possible Spoiler Alert I've got the knight leveled up so he has the top-level war hammer and top-level sword. So the hammer spits lightning ...

Re: Cheap Tricks in Trine

I these things were intentional. It seemed to be part of the design.More like quirks to be enjoyed rather than bugs to be fixed. One trick I've enjoyed is in the lava areas, putting a metal block in the lava and standing on it. Then using the wizard to push another metal block into the one I'm stand...

Re: Linux Version, Please tell me you have/planning one

Personally I'm okay with buying the game once for each platform. I bought two copies of Trine 1. It's inexpensive enough that buying Trine twice cost less than buying most big-name games once.

Steam works in Wine sometimes, on some machines/distros, when the person is lucky. But it's really hit or miss and not the sort of thing a ISV is going to want to support.

Re: Trine 2 with steam

I tried Steam for a while, but it was not at all a pleasant experience. I've tried it on three different machines and it's always painfully slow, launching games takes a long time and about every third time I'd try to launch steam it wasn't able to connect to servers. And I was constantly asked to r...

Will Forzenbyte be doing semi-public beta testing for Trine 2 on Linux? It seemed to work well for the original.

My first time through, I felt the same way about the knight. However, I found later than if the knight is upgraded (especially his sword) then he becomes quite powerful toward the end and able to hack through enemies much faster.

I couldn't even get the game to run properly in WINE, so I'm glad to have the native port. I would be interested in seeing a frame rate comparison between Trine running with WINE and the Linux version.

What type of video card do you have? I tried running Trine on two very similar systems, one with an nVidia card and one with an onboard Intel card. I got the crash mentioned above on the Intel machine, but everything worked on the nVidia box.

Re: Please help me with Trine

Is that the level with all the spinning gears/cogs near the end and the spikes under the cogs? If so, that one did drive me up the wall the first handful of tries. If you've managed to get the wizard upgrades for box and planks, I found I could make walkways over most of it, rather than rely on acro...

Please excuse me if I sound impatient, but I noticed there haven't been any updates concerning the Linux port for around a month. Could someone on the inside bring us up to speed as to how development is progressing?
