Re: Shadowgrounds & Survivor failed to create PhysX

Start game with

Code: Select all

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./lib32 ./survivor-bin

What distro are you running? Some systems refuse to obey RPATH set in the executable and I would like to nail down the exact cause.

Those are not between the polygons but in places where the normal is at an almost-straight angle relative to camera direction. We had the exact same issue in Trine 1 Linux but it was fixed in beta. FB guys: Check out Trine 1 Linux shader depthpass_mesh_pixel.cg line 59. There's a workaround for this...

All 3 of those things use render-to-texture. This sounds like some really weird driver bug.

Flashlight resolution is affected by shadow quality setting. What happens when you set that to low?

You might have hit this one:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4239#p19064

If you're using PulseAudio, alsa tries to look for PA plugin and fails. The game then tries to fall back to OSS and that fails too. At least I think this might happen, I don't use PulseAudio.

Re: Trine2 Assertion failed at pulsecore

Something I remembered about alsa and PulseAudio... When PA is enabled alsa tries to use it. This is done by searching for a plugin (libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so) at runtime using dlopen. Alsa only looks for this plugin in default systemwide directories. It is not searched in either RPATH or LD_LIB...

Re: Crash when changing character in gamepad multiplayer gam

The log is not very useful, backtrace would be.

I managed to reproduce this but fixing it might prove tricky. This is a use-after-free bug that is also present on Windows and 32-bit Linux (and presumably PS3 and Mac) but is somehow not triggered in those environments.

This could also be an issue with GPU memory consumption or fragmentation. Unfortunately this is pretty hard to check on Linux. You would need to use some of the vendor-specific GL extensions to monitor memory usage.

Re: Trine2 on Gentoo Linux, NVidia, distorted characters

This could also be an issue with the Cg library and the used vertex and fragment profiles. Trine 1 prints these in the log file, does Trine 2 do the same? The defaults are autodetected and can be overridden with environment variables. Check Cg docs. Find out what profiles GF7 uses and force those sa...

Take a look at

check Ubuntu instructions about 32-bit stuff.

Just in case you're not aware, there are people installing this via Desura (myself included) who're still encountering this problem. Perhaps it's not as resolved as you'd hoped. Did they use the correct version (update 4)? The binaries in the latest version should be: 5608224 May 30 2011 trine-bin3...

But how do you get it installed in the first place again? Either use manual install (unzip the file where you want it) or put libglade-2.0.so.0 in the same directory as the installer. You might need to start the installer with "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./shadowgroundsUpdate1.run" If you are miss...

Can you launch trine-bin directly? Can you try the 32-bit versions?

Paste the output of these:

ldconfig trine-bin64

Are you using PulseAudio? Try disabling it or use padsp.

You should remove lib32/libxml2.so.2, it appears to conflict with some system library.

Paste output of

Code: Select all

ldd shadowgrounds-bin

This is your problem. You don't have 32-bit compatibility library for your GPU. The package is called fglrx something. On Debian it would be fglrx-glx-ia32 or libfglrx-ia32.

This happens when the game can't find some texture (usually because of corrupted package) and uses a default instead. It's indeed quite trippy :)

A completely different code base for one :) On Linux and Mac SG/SGS we mess around with SDL gamma ramps. On most systems this works.
