Re: Trine 2 Alpha - Episode 1 - Half Hour Opening Special!

Well, I think I just saw the answer to a question I wanted to ask. To all developers : many thanks for offering a way to check control configuration directly in the main menu ! (And now, I try to avoid watching this video, to keep my Christmas gift a surprise... But Trine 2 truly looks ama...

Re: Release date

Casus belli question : Will PC players get their game as soon as it is ready, or will they have to wait for console testing to be completed ?

Re: Getting a topic for a Bachelor thesis in computer scienc

They had an implementation they were not happy with, ripped it all out and are planning to rewrite the whole thing Real Soon Now. If they can stick to the plan maybe we can get local multi mice/keyboard support in a few years :) Isn't there a way to statically link to an old version of SDL that sti...

Re: trine linux version available?

@Zettmaster : I think you underestimate the amount of design effort it'd take to make Trine enjoyable on a small screen (if it's possible at all) :D Also, mobile games (inc. Android ones) commonly sell for a ridiculously low price. I think Trine is worth at least 20$, which only few mobile phone use...

Re: Frozenbyte Blog has some of the latest news on Trine 2!

First screenshot : Ouch, that HDR effect just burned my eyes ! Guess it looks better in motion though, as the same scene didn't felt shocking at all in the trailer. Also, love the two other screenshots... So much pretty lights and colors around ! :) But I think if you want to show how much of a beau...

Re: Voice Actors

Played the game in English myself (which is very idiotic as the original version was probably in Finnish anyway, but well it helps me improve my skills) and have to give a big thumb up to the narrator. The other actors were not bad either, IIRC, but that voice in particular was just absolutely memor...

Re: Please include support for nVidia 3D Vision!

Found a way to save money on GPUs myself : I was born sort of one-eyed (the right eye was there, the nerve was there, but the brain refused to hear anything from it), and by the time doctors got my second eye to work, my stubborn brain had already found some alternatives to binocular vision for reli...

Graphics and hardware requirements

Hi everyone ! It's been a while...

I was wondering about something : I think I remember reading here that the engine has been much optimized since Trine 1, allowing for significantly better performance on similar hardware. Is it true, or did I dream it ?

Re: Upcoming Linux version

Maybe they use a lot of D3D-specific stuff in Trine's engine and have to rewrite that in OpenGL for it to work on Linux...

It's a very common problem with porting games, Microsoft have been quite clever when they decided to bring some Windows-specific competition to OpenGL...

Re: When can we pre-order?

Yes, Trine 2 will be on Steam, and it will be available for pre-order closer to the release. I would take a wild guess and say that pre-orders will start 2-3 months before release, so we could be talking about something like June for the pre-order. It depends on a few things - for example we'd love...

Re: Character balance and more

This is such a lost art in game design, even today. I still remember all those lovely old DOS games where it felt like the developers were intentionally trying to trick you into getting yourself killed over very silly things. Anyone remember the old Space Quest games? How about Rick Dangerous? Talk...

Re: Windows 7 Trouble

Just to let you know... On my Optimus machine (Asus N61JV with Intel chip and GeForce 325M), Trine works well with latest NVidia&Intel drivers, using Steam's version on Windows 7 x64.

So at least it's possible to run this game on an Optimus setup ! :)

Neolander You do great job on analyzing this video :) When I play first Trine I feel it's awesome, now when I watch this material I start to thing that second Trine will be double awesome (if it is possible). Re: Back, and with a few questions

We have also paid special attention to co-op mode and it adds really a new layer of gameplay to the game, which means a very good replay value. (ie. play once thru in single-player and a couple times in different co-op modes :D) Different co-op modes, you say ? *takes notes on a small not...

Re: New gameplay trailer

Hmmm... Lemme see what I can find in there... PART 1 - Thief turorial Nice music ! And no doubt, you've managed to make things much more lively than in the first game. What probably plays a big role there is that you have added lots of random moving background elements (flags, birds, the stone oscil...

Re: Trine gamepad controllers configuration tips/troubleshoo

Looks like a helpful guide, thanks for posting. :) We'll try to make Trine 2 support more gamepads by default so hopefully the configuring won't be as complicated as it is with Trine. If you want, I can help. I don't know a thing about Thrustmaster's gamepads internals or gamepad support code, but ...

Re: Trine gamepad controllers configuration tips/troubleshoo

Hi ! After much effort, I've managed to get my Thrustmaster dual analog 3 to work with Trine on my laptop (Windows 7 x64). I recommend this procedure to anyone having issues with similar gamepads. Some parts of it are maybe not necessary, but I don't have the will to break everything again just to s...

Re: Don't have an extra keyboard - any trick ?

Yeah it depends on the amount of simultaneous buttons pressed (and maybe even where they are located, if they're far apart I guess that could be better). There's a fantastic Mechanical keyboard guide over at Overclock.net and it explains all this (I didn't quite read it all though). Heh... I know s...
