Re: Trine2 for Linux - window mode

Ok, I just tested the resolution reduction option, and it seems to have no effect on Linux... So, that didn't quite go as planned. :( It is supposed to be enabled for Linux as well, but clearly there is some screwup somewhere in the code. Also, I tested the 640x480 resolution, and yes... it seems to...

Re: Trine2 for Linux - window mode

I just checked the launcher... And it does have the 640x480 intentionally enabled and the game is actually supposed to work on that resolution. I'll have to test it out on some linux distributions on 640x480, but at least it has been working with that resolution before (The minimum got lowered at so...

Re: Trine2 for Linux - window mode

Any plans to support 640x480 resoluation? I also just get a black screen when I try to start the game in this resolution. And yeah, NVIDIA 8400M GS is not the latest high end card ;) The launcher offers this resolution, which is a flaw I guess. I'll have to re-check that.. If the launcher offers th...

Re: Trine2 segmentation fault on archlinux (solved)

Glad to know this issue got solved and people have got it working now. It was getting a bit tricky trying to reproduce the issue. I just did a clean Fedora 16 install to try it out, but unfortunately it didn't crash for me. :D Probably, because I tend to install the nvidia drivers by downloading the...

Re: How to play Trine 2 network games using Linux?

Apparently there was at least one bug found in the code that could have affected hosting games on linux and cause it to fail. That will be fixed in the next patch. I'm still not sure if that is all that there is to this. So we'll try to test and see if we can figure out any more issues that could be...

Re: Trine2 on Gentoo Linux, NVidia, distorted characters

So far we've managed to cause the same distortion present in the screenshots you provided by simulating a small "rounding error" in the related bone animation shader. Similarly this is quite easy to compensate for, and thus fix the issue... But we're still trying to see if we can somehow a...

Re: Random slowdown and fullscreen-problems on Ubuntu11.10 x

This could also be an issue with GPU memory consumption or fragmentation. Unfortunately this is pretty hard to check on Linux. You would need to use some of the vendor-specific GL extensions to monitor memory usage. Yeah, memory fragmentation might be an issue too, but in that case, it would most l...

Re: Random slowdown and fullscreen-problems on Ubuntu11.10 x

That lagging issue occurring sounds quite puzzling.. The only thing that I can quickly think of, is that it could even be GPU heat-buildup related... Specifically as your statistics suggest that it occurs sooner on higher resolutions. Trine 2 can be really heavy on the GPU, and specifically, with hi...

Re: Trine2 on Gentoo Linux, NVidia, distorted characters

Hi, Our graphics programmer had some theory of what might be causing this, it could be that the GF7600 (and those specific linux drivers for it) might be doing some floating point rounding differently than other hardware and drivers we've encountered so far, which might cause the bone shaders to get...

Re: Fedora 16 64bits - Core dumped

Hi, Those few empty lines are normal (though they can certainly be confusing). If one of the lines specifically said "not found", then it would be missing. So you do seem to have all the required libraries. Have you tried running the game in both windowed and fullscreen mode? We've had som...

Re: How to play Trine 2 network games using Linux?

Also, if you are trying to play a LAN game, you could try to modify the option: setOption(networkModule, "UseLANOnly", false) and set it to true. According to the our programmer, who is more involved with the net code, that option changes the network connection logic, so it uses some plain...

Re: Trine2 on Gentoo Linux, NVidia, distorted characters

Performance wise, you probably have to set a pretty low resolution to get it running smoothly on GF 7600 series cards. It probably makes sense to try something like 800x600 and no antialiasing. Also, the other quality settings will probably have to be set as low as possible. But as far as the real i...

Re: Random slowdown and fullscreen-problems on Ubuntu11.10 x

Hello, there are several bugs on Ubuntu 11.10: 1) top-menubar (panel) is always visible in fullscreen mode. I'm starting to look into those fullscreen issues today. (But I probably won't have any solutions until next week at earliest) There are already some workarounds to this by disabling desktop ...

Re: How to play Trine 2 network games using Linux?

Okay, it seems that for whatever reason, the game fails to connect.. If you could provide the following information, it might be useful for us in an attempt to pinpoint the issue: - Which Linux distribution are you using? - Is the game you've been trying to make a local LAN game? (i.e. are you in th...

I'll be installing the Chakra Archimedes x86_64 on my work computer today, so that I can hopefully try to replace this issue and figure out a fix for it. * mouse grabbing support (ideally grab it if in game, ungrab if in menu). ctrl-g is a commonly used shortcut for that in linux-games (actually, I think trine1 supports that). Re: How to play Trine 2 network games using Linux?

Two of us have Linux, and the other has Windows. He uses Steam for all of his games, but if I convinced him to purchase the non-Steam Windows version, would all three of us get to play cooperatively with each other? In theory that should do the trick once we get the next patch for the linux version...

1- My native resolution is not supported. That is 1360x768 Well, It's working at 1280x720 pretty nice but I would know if 1360x768 resolution will be supported. Though the launcher does not support that resolution, you should be able to set it manually, by editing the ~/.frozenbyte/Trine2/options.t...

As a note to the use of the "MaximizeWindow" option.. If I remember correctly, it has an effect only if the game is in Windowed mode (the "Windowed" option is false). Additionally, one can use the "WindowTitleBar" option to disable the window title bar and borders. Usin...

Re: How to play Trine 2 network games using Linux?

Hi, Unfortunately the Linux version network game is not compatible with the Windows/Mac Steam version. This is because the Steam version of Trine 2 uses Steam's libraries for the net game implementation. The linux version in theory is compatible with other non-steam versions of the game (such as the...

Re: (Solved) Trine 2 Linux version & Bumblebee (Optimus)

Glad to hear you got it working. And indeed the Trine 2 launcher scripts set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the game directory lib/lib32... I know this is a bit of a nasty hacky way of setting the library path - because some other software (such as optirun apparently in this case) can also use that as a hac...

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems running the game...
