Well, this is crazy. When I want to buy in US d2d, then they add 22% of tax to the purchase, so every game is in fact 22% more expensive that it seems at a first glance.

But in the UK shop no tax is added, so it's cheaper.

BTW. When is Trine going to be on Impulse?

Every sites add the value tax to the shown US prices (including Steam), as it's how US people have used to do it. European prices seem higher as they are shown with the tax.

In Europe steam does not add any tax to the price - the tax is included in the price. They added tax when they still sold games in dollars everywhere.

Not "every site" adds value tax to the US prices:
For example, Telltale Store does not add value tax to the US price - I bough Tales of Monkey Island for 35$ without any tax.
Impulse also does not add add any tax to purchases - just like telltale store.
Gamersgate/Metaboli sell in dollars without tax.
GoG.com - they also sell in dollars and do not add any value added tax

Those are just examples that I quickly remembered, I bet there are more.

My bad :)

But I'm talking only about US prices for US residents. Maybe I'm too Steam-oriented :)

It seems all other channels have launched Trine already .. I hope we get Impulse running "soonish" .. but yes, if I have learned something it must be "make no promises" .. :D

I stopped caring. The delay is so embarrassing, it's just sad. I wouldn't be surprised if they simply cancelled Trine on Impulse and just didn't bother to tell anyone. Please prove me wrong. Trine is not even on the "Coming soon" page on Impulse.

Wow, talk about Epic Fail when it comes to communicating a simple reply to potential customers.
I'm still interested in Trine, but now I'll definitely wait until it inevitably goes on 50% sale somewhere. Too much time has passed waiting for the promised Impulse release.
No wonder game companies are failing left and right when they can't even figure out how to sell a product.

I see that Trine is 22,49€ on Steam now. I might pick it up today then, now that it is a bit cheaper. It is close enough to the $30 I was prepared to shell out for Trine.

It would be nice to hear what happened to the Impulse release though... :?:

Its 22.49$ on US steam. Hooray for Europeans having to pay 40% more for an European game!

Yes, that's why I never buy on Steam before the games get discounted. I know I'm still getting shafted because the US price goes down as well.
But at least I'm not contributing to the important launch sales. It's my FU to the devs/publishers who decide to bleed Europeans for extra cash.

The reason why I want Trine on Impulse is that most games are available to me there in dollar prices. If a game is $40, I pay $40 and not some stupid, bloated Euro price.
I bought Street Fighter IV and pre-ordered Red Faction: Guerilla on Impulse, since they only charge in dollars for those items. Being reasonable results in sales. But apparently most publishers don't understand that and continue with stupid Euro prices. I can snail-mail order almost any game on DVD and get it vastly cheaper than on Steam. Why would I pay up to 50% more for a digital download, when I can get a DVD shipped to me far cheaper. It boggles the mind that stupid publishers don't get this. No wonder they're bleeding money.

I ended up buying the game on Steam (25% off sale). I wanted to support a great game, even if the pricing is a bit whacky in Europe (I think I've ranted enough about that). For such a cheap game the difference isn't huge anyway and I want to support quality PC titles that aren't EA franchise #34355 rehash of the year.

Trine is a wonderful and atmospheric game and it deserves support.

Any word on this yet??? I have been waiting to buy this game, but HIGHLY prefer impulse to steam. I prefer the faster dl speed, the ability to play without launching anything else, and the ability to install where and how I want. Please get this up on impulse so I can pay you.

You can get it in Direct2Drive UK for 15 GBP and it is supposedly DRM free:

I am US and so the exchange system doesn't effect me. I just prefer impulses platform for its options.

well, trine has finally arrived on impulse, but impulse (or whoever controls the pricing) now has the same regional pricing as steam: 29.90 dollar are 29.90 euro. :?

This is a publisher decision, not impulse. Wish we got a deal on this like they had on steam.

After almost 2 month delay Trine appeared on Impulse, 3 days after I bought it on Direct2Drive. Better late than never :P

Lucky you. I also prefer Impulse, however the DRM free version on d2d looks like a good deal. You download it and install, no need to have any client running in the background (I guess the same can be said about Impulse).

Correction: Trine on d2d looked like a good deal when it was 25% off, now it's back to its original price. Pity and shame that the developer did not say a word about when trine is coming to impulse - if on 15th August they said "Trine will be on Impulse on 20th August with 25% off" I would wait and buy it on Impulse as I originally planned.
