Yes, it runs just fine on my 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 box. It's a Athlon II X2 2.8 /w/ NVIDIA 9500GT 1GB. Now, factor in my Linux capture software (%10) hit and we end up with this http://linuxgamecast.com/2011/04/l-g-c- ... %94-trine/ (yes everything is on 11)

Cheers,

The game was captured @ 1280x720. Crank it up to 720p on the YouTubes video player? Nothing was "scaled" I promise.

Thank you for having a look,

My only beef ( I love humble bundle and always donate) was it was rushed. IMHO it's a sad day when stock WINE gives a 20% performance boost over native :/

This is almost always an issue when the game is ported after the fact instead of having the engine and game cross-platform from the beginning. Unfortunately not many companies have the knowledge/expertise/will to code fully cross-platform games, and thus when a port is done later on by a different company, stubbed and hacked code go in and cause decreased performance and other issues.

We can only hope Frozenbyte has a better, cross-platform engine in the future.

Is there actually a framerate comparison somewhere? You can enable framerate counter in all versions by opening the game console (with the F8 key, or on Mac with SG games on the F6 key), and then writing "/show_fps 1" (without the quotes). It would be interesting to see a proper chart.

But if there is indeed a noticeable difference, then you'll be happy to know that we have rewritten our game engine for Trine 2 (that was a huge effort, we finally wrote support for online multiplayer and mid-level saving etc in the process too) so that may help with our future games and all platforms.

I couldn't even get the game to run properly in WINE, so I'm glad to have the native port. I would be interested in seeing a frame rate comparison between Trine running with WINE and the Linux version.

I'm getting 66 FPS in native, 38 in Wine.

for comparison as wine does loot a bit better imo.

Looks like you don't have the blurriness fix on Linux, that's why everything looks... off.
