Performance hiccups

Postby Alleycat » Sat Jul 04, 2009 6:04 pm

I know i have a pretty crappy pc. But it should cover the requirements listed on steam.
Amd athlon 64 (3200+) 2Ghz, 2gb ram, Geforce 8600 GT, Win7

Now, the game has odd instant hiccups every 1-2 seconds. But between those drops, the game runs buttery smooth.
Is this something i could maybe fix? Isn't there enough of something? Is something buggy?

I've tried lowering graphical setttings, but the hiccups stay even though the game goes even smoother.

I think this was caused by too high AA. Try to lower your AA to 2x instead of 4x. And if you have already it on 2x, try disabling it.

If even that doesn't work then I don't know... Try disabling audio? :P

Heh, no AA. I even tried disabling the audio. :P

EDIT: Well, this is odd. I ran the game in a window and that fixes the problem.

It is annoying not to run in fullscreen and probably takes more juice to do it, but at least it doesn't hiccup anymore.

Nice that you got it working.
And yes, usually running in windowed mode requires a bit more power because, if I know enough of this now, windows has to render everything else too with the game which can be visible, or something like that.
