When exactly does the game crash? Right after you have clicked the play button?

Have you tried to lower your graphich settings and disabling sound, bloom and EAX?

At the point I hit launch the error occurs. Will try bloom. Tried all else.

Have you installed your graphic card drivers correctly?

I mean that did you uninstall your old ones, reboot your computer and then install the new ones? If you just install the new drivers on top of old ones, this causes issues.

Yes. It is a software issue but not the gpu drivers. I think it is a SDK error. Not sure what to do except look for an update. Usually, this type of error is just not fixable. Looks like the game is a no go until I reformat again.

Sorry for the delay - can you make sure you've got the PhysX drivers properly installed?

And by launch do you mean when you hit the Launch button in the Launcher, or the Start button in the game when it's loading a level? If the first one, can you go to the game folder and try launching trine.exe manually. Does it give you a different error message?

I had to launch the game from the steam folder. For whatever reason, launching from the normal steam menu did not work. The game would not launch at all via the steam normal steam start up launcher.

Weird, I don't have any idea what could cause this kind of behavior - but I guess it's alright now anyways.
