Linux bugs

Postby BenJ » Sun Feb 10, 2013 11:54 am

I know you guys probably have your hands full, and it probably doesn't make economic sense to put too much effort into the Linux version, but it can't hurt to keep track of the bugs anyway.

-First and foremost, apparently this version can't utilize gamepads. It detects them, but you can't map the controls.

-In the level from Goblin Menace with the rock monster, one of the dragons flying in the background is completely frozen in space. It's kinda funny but takes you out of the magical experience.

-This bug I'm not so sure is on your end. In the same level, the water surface will turn purple depending on which angle you are viewing it from. I'm thinking this is probably AMD's fault, they are really falling behind Nvidia in developing drivers for Linux. Hopefully that will change soon when Steam gets more games up and running.

My rig:
Intel Core 2 Quad 3.0ghz
6GB RAM
Radeon 6770 1GB w/ 13.1 drivers
Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit

P.S. Thanks for being such cool developers the past few years. You were on Linux before Steam had thought about it, you take the minimal to no DRM approach, and you really push PC graphics forward even though you're developing on consoles too. Ubisoft has nothing on you guys. Bravo!

Currently for me the biggest problem is taking screenshot. If i'm not wrong screenshots should be in game's folder but they are not in there. I'm pressing F4 key to take screenshot. Pressing PrintScreen takes me to dekstop and screenshot application takes a screenshot of desktop.

Ubuntu 12.10 amd64
AMD Phenom II x4 B35 2,9GHz
4GB of ram
MSI Radeon HD6850 Cyclone Power [email protected] Catalyst 13.2 beta 3.

Hi BenJ and sorry for the delay,

Do you have wireless or wired controller? It seems that the wireless gamepads don't work at the moment but normal ones with wires do. We tested this with Xbox controller.

As for the dragon and the water, we didn't manage to reproduce these. The dragons can get stuck if you save game in the middle of the level and return to it later.

As for spectatorx's problem, the screenshot feature is disabled on Linux version at the moment. If you are playing through Steam, you can use F12 to take a screenshot via Steam.

Hope these helped :)

Again, sorry for the delay :(

Thanks for info about screenshot.

One more question... when new patch will come out? At least one patch more is needed for missing translations.

Also found one "bug" in game. It happens on windows and linux version:

As you can see in there, some problem with animation or something, character look like standing in air.

Last patch for Linux came last thursday/friday. The language patch is coming separately. I don't have the exact time when its coming as there is some issues with it.

About the bug, this is known issue with the collisions and we don't think it will be "fixed" as its pretty small issue. Thanks for pointing it out though, glad to see our fans being observant :)

I think that may be the only controller that works. Everyone else with either a PS3, Logitech, or some other controller has my problem. I'm using a Hori PS3 controller. It works in windows fine, and is correctly detected by the game in Linux. The UI actually freezes when I try to bind a key, and I have to kill the program through task manager.

Thread elaborating on the issue here:

And you're right about the dragon issue, I was backtracking at the time.
