Purple fog when using 3.0 or 4.0 shaders

Postby MaLDo » Mon May 20, 2013 5:58 pm

Hi, game worked fine when released. But today I can't play because a graphic glitch

I started the game and every element in screen has a purple/pink color. I tested changing graphic options and graphics are ok only in medium, low and lowest settings. When playing in high or very high appears the pink.

Messing with config file, I see is the shaderlevel that produces the error. 2.0 is fine, but 3.0 or 4.0 makes pink.

Computer: [email protected], Tri-SLI 680GTX (320.14 drivers), 32 GB ram.

Test:

Enabling/Disabling SLI don't fix the problem.
Enabling/Disabling cpu HT don't fix the problem.
Reducing resolution don't fix the problem.
Lowering AA settings don't fix the problem.

May be a problem that has emerged with the latest versions of nvidia drivers?

Yes, the problem manifests with current beta drivers. As they are beta, we haven't been in much of a hurry to fix the issue. Thanks for notifying us and for your analysis of the problem. If it is easy enough to fix and reproduce, we may get it fixed in upcoming patch.

I have many years reporting errors in forums and I can assure you that this is the fastest and clearer response than I ever had from a developer. Congratulations.

Yeah, I noticed. Luckily, our graphics programmer wants to have newest drivers installed for playing Metro, so there's a good change we get some (better than using medium settings) workaround for this.

Same thing happened for me, except the fog is more blue than purple. The whole of the foreground was obscured and it made gameplay very difficult. This was the demo version, and almost put me off buying the game, but now I've seen this suggestion to lower setting to medium which worked perfectly, I'll continue with the demo and hopefully go on to purchase.

GPU is GTX670 with latest driver (320.18), CPU intel i5 3570K, Win 7 64 bit.

I found another post which helped me solve the mystery of why I had an in-game on-screen message saying PhysX cpu and I've now turned that off (thank goodness).

Great game, btw, most fun I've had in any game for ages and such lush, beautiful graphics, too.

I hope You'll find a solution for this issue, I cannot play since I installed latest drivers.

Thank You!

Our graphics programmer did. Patch should be coming pretty soon (I can't promise a date as usual, but at least we have internal date set now :) ).

Nvidia fixed this Bug in Beta 320.49. I know it was already fixed for the main game from Frozenbyte itself, the demo however isn't. With the new driver even the demo runs properly now.
