Trine 2 previews/news from E3 2010

Postby fb_joel » Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:13 pm

Hi guys,

Here's a thread for all the E3 2010 news/previews. I'll be updating this post with links as they come in. :)

First preview: GamePro - Trine 2 preview
The team behind the fantasy action platformer Trine is taking a "more is better" approach with their sequel. The best part: online co-op.

More previews:
16 June 2010: IGN - Trine 2 First Look

More articles are sure to come within a few days (along with some screenshots and trailer). :)

Oh and just to remind you, until E3 is over we probably won't answer many questions or comment too much on things, so we'll let the previews do the talking. 8)

Another one:

Trine 2 looks to have the same hook as its predecessor, but with some enhanced features. Along with some graphical updates (the game looks downright beautiful) and online coop, the characters are getting some new powers. The wizard can now pick up and manipulate enemies as if he was a Force-wielding Jedi, while the thief will have the ability to slow down time. Not much more is known about abilities outside of this, but I'm also told that the levels are being designed to require the specialties of all the classes, increasing the importance of their powers.

The game is slated for release sometime in 2011, and will likely end up on PSN, Xbox Live, and on various PC digital distribution channels. No clear price has been decided, but the game's publisher, Atlus, says that it will be much more "reasonable," than the $20 to $40 price of the original.

nice to see the "slow down time" ability I suggested made it in, although I gave it to the wizard :P.

anyway, cant wait to see screenshots.

online multiplayer is definitely a welcome! now we just need an editor for the PC version so we can play trine well past the original campaign :P.

"No clear price has been decided, but the game's publisher, Atlus, says that it will be much more "reasonable," than the $20 to $40 price of the original."

:( If Atlus thinks the "reasonable" pricetag is 60€ then they are outright IDIOTS! The 40€ price tag was just correct and then dropping it to 20€ quaranteed good sales, even I can say that. If they are going to place the price as high as 60€ or 50€ there for sure are less buyers even this is for sure going to be very high quality game.

Frozenbyte, if you have any say on the price tag, try to get it to 40€ that's just corret price tag for this game. Only greedy persons like once at EA sell games at 60€ and, for consoles, 70€ price tags.

$40 was too much for the original. If it had a level editor (sorry to sound like a broken record) it would be worth it as it would add hours more playtime to the game.

Come on! Of course they are talking about lower prices, not higher.

The price in Trine was weird at launch... with problems like this:

Slow down time was part of the game even before Trine 1 was out, they just opted it to don't include it in Trine

Yeah the price is not going to be higher than Trine 1 launch prices, that's for sure.

And Trine 1 was indeed supposed to have a time slow ability at one point but it was removed - I think it's still in some of the (pre-patch) game files as "Time Slow / Time Gear" or something. Still, I remember Rahabib suggestion, a funny coincidence. :)
