Still having this problem, allowed all ports for steam and trine..
It works fine when doing co-op with 2 people but disconnects after a certain time when 3 people are playing. The lag is crippling. Could we get some support? We have been trying to get it to work for an hour and nothing has helped so far. Also your support telephone number is not being answered.

My friend and I are trying to play together co-op, but while trying to join each others' games the ping is at 9999 and fails to connect. We can both join public games of other people, but it won't let us be in the same game. We live close to one another. She has a Mac and I have windows 7. If either of us host the ping is 9999. I followed the port opening directions earlier in this thread but it did not solve anything. Any ideas? We haven't tried the Hibachi thing

Hello Bzzatah

Which versions of the game are you 2 running. I tried to reproduce this issue with the steam version using mac mini and windows 7 pc but couldn't get the issue replace.

Make sure you have the latest version of the game installed as well. We just recently patched the game with major network fixes/changes & tweaks.

Let me know if this issue perists and we'll look in to it further.

As far as I know we can't see the game version for other players in the multiplayer, isn't it possible to add a game version status button in the multiplayer?

Hello Borc

While you cannot see the game version number of other players hosting a game (you can see their operating system from the little icon how ever), if you try to join a game with different version number you'll recieve an error message stating "Incompatible game version", but this doesen't seem to be the case for the above problem. As a rule of thumb one should always update the game when new version is available (and via steam this is easy as it auto-updates).

The latest patch allows players to play together regardless of the platform they're playing on (meaning Linux, MacAppstore, Steam and Windows DRM free can play together) so seeing that version has no use (as you can play with them anyways).

Hopefully I didn't completely misunderstand your meaning :)

We are both using version 1.15 of Trine 2.
We have tried Hamachi to no avail.

A friend and I are trying to bro-op some Trine 2. We both have the Steam version and have Steam ports open. we are both able to join other games, but I cannot join his game, getting error 9. When I see him try and connect, his ping starts at 3000 and skyrockets to 29k before it kicks him, and he gets error 9.

FAQ suggests this has been fixed but....we're still not playing

How do you even use this game with Hamachi? There's no lan support

Hello UltimaAvalon and sorry to hear you're having trouble with the game.

Error 9 means (NetErrorConnectionSyncDataTimeOut) Sync data was not received in 30s, which can be caused by several things.

First if you have any internet speed/connectivity programs on the computer to boost downloads, or other similar things, disable them.


If this does not help got to options.txt in %appdata%/Trine2 and look for the line:

setOption(networkModule, "AllowSteamRelay", false)

And try if changing it to true helps.


If not even that helps go to the options again and look for the line:

setOption(networkModule, "NetLogEnabled", false)

set it to true, and the game will produce a log of the events to log\trine2.log file.
You can open this file with Notepad.
Copy the content of the log file and post it to here along with your system specs to help us determine what the problem is.

I've forwarded the issue to our coders and hopefully they can make sense of it.
I'll let you know once we have some additional information.

One last thing could you ask your friend to get a log as well and make sure he set AllowSteamRelay to true as well.

I just bought Trine 2 on Steam and I'm having this issue; Not just with the person I'm trying to play with, but when I go to the multiplayer lobby the latency of everybody is listed as 9999. My girlfriend's able to connect just fine to everybody else, but my ping is listed as 9999 on her screen.

I've tried all the solutions in this thread (short of hamachi) - opening steam and trine ports, letting it through my firewall, editing the options in %appdata% and what have you - but I'm always getting error code 262147.

I'm not sure what's wrong or if I'm missing something, please help? Running v2.00 on Windows 8.

Seems that the problem may be with your router. You should disable all port forwardings and see if that works. If it doesn't then you should run this nettest http://trine2.com/help/nettest5/nettest.exe and post the log here. Let me know how it goes! :)
