Game crashes to windows : data1.fbq corrupted...

Postby Malkavian » Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:11 am

Hi!

I just bought this game twice for my gf and I so we can play co-op.

We played maybe an hour an really enjoyed the game.

However, today, the game keeps crashing to windows on my gf's pc and getting an error saying that data1.fbq is corrupted and that she has to reinstall the game. I did... twice! It still does the same thing. I even tried copy pasting my data1.fqb in her game folder and she get the same file corrupted error.

Am I the only one having this problem? Any idea what I could try to solve this?

***(Both games were purchased and downloaded through Steam)

To check it isn't a problem with the game, right-click Trine 2 in your Steam games library and go to properties/local files/verify integrity of game cache. Does Steam think it's corrupted as well, and does it start re-downloading it?

Hi!

I did just that. It re-downloaded the whole 1.5Go file.

The game then worked for 15 minutes and the error reappeared... :(

If Steam detects file corruption as well, then it shouldn't be a problem in Trine 2. We never modify fbq's located in game directory, so that file is getting corrupted for some other reason.

This could indicate a hardware and/or software problem. As a first step it's probably a good idea to check your hard drive for errors (right click it in explorer, and go to properties / tools / check for errors.
