Trine 2 for Mac Demo, can I keep the save games?

Postby EuropeanWizard » Mon Dec 19, 2011 2:11 am

Hello, I tried the Mac Demo (version 1.09) of Trine 2 and it's amazing! :D

I wanted to know if it's possible to keep the save games and use them with the Mac App Store version that I'm going to buy in a week or two (I got all potions and secrets and monsters XP in the first 2 levels of the Mac Demo, so I would like to keep them :D ).
It's ok to keep also all of the configuration (video, etc...).

Are all of those files only in "Home folder username\Library\Trine2"?
Thank you.

:D

Hello EuropeanWizard!

You can indeed continue in Appstore version from the Steam Demo.
First you need to go to
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata

and find a folder called "userid" and from there you need to find the demo app id (204260).

After that go to remote folder and you will find the saves in slot folders (slot1, slot2 etc) and option files.
Copy these to the Appstore version of Trine 2 in
~/Library/Trine2

and change the file extension to .fbs and you are done!

Hope these instructions aren't too hard to follow :)
Happy gaming!

It's not the Steam Mac Demo, just the Mac Demo:
http://trine2.com/demo/Trine2_Mac_Demo_v109.zip

If there aren't any other files other than the ones already present in here:
~/Library/Trine2

it will suffice not deleting this folder, just putting the Mac Demo app file in the trash before getting the Mac App Store version.

Right?

Oh if its the mac demo then i assume you dont need to do anything. Just buy the full game and it will automatically use the save files you have in stored.

Ps. Take a backup just in case tho :)

Wonderful, thank you!

Trine 2 will be the game of the year, I'm happy to see it in the "scrolling apps" list at the top of the Mac App Store :D
