Windows version without DRM

Postby j2810 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 12:31 am

Hi,

now that the linux version has been released, is there also a Windows verson without Steam available (as humble bundle or something like that) ?

While I do have a linux machine, I usually do gaming on a dedicated windows desktop without network connection.

I couldn't find any information on that on the buy page.

Thanks,
Jens

Me too I was wondering when it would be available (I bought the game via the Humble Store). Thank you!

It's been a while since people asked about this, maybe anybody at Frozenbyte can give us an ETA?

"Windows DRM free version will be added to all Humble Store purchases later in 2012."

I hope this doesn't mean not before some time in Q3/4 2012 even though focusing on the upcoming expansion should have maximum focus :D

Hello there
I am too waiting for this DRM-free version of Trine 2, for me its not about DRM/Copy protection but I don't want Steam.
I remember buying the first Trine at frozenbyte.com a while back and it was just a download without need for any 3rd pt client.
If game studios want to add DRM to their games its understandable but please no enforcement for any client software.....many people dislike it. I just want to double click on trine2.exe and enjoy your wonderful game^^

Thanks for understanding and best regards to Frozenbyte!

Thanks, I looked it up there already. Doesn't look like they offer a windows version of Trine 2.
On the product page it shows mac + linux icons but no windows icon whereas Trine 1 on desura has the windows icon.

It's more than obvious that we won't get a DRM free version in the near future. Probably it's not even planned. Trine 2+expansion pack DRM free would be nice but I wouldn't hope for this.

Well, they state on their website : "Windows DRM free version will be added to all Humble Store purchases later in 2012."
So, some people bought the game because of this so I'm sure they'll keep their promise, but maybe only after the expansion pack... it would be nice to have an answer from Frozenbyte :)
