Shadowgrounds for Pandora

Postby dingdingtralala » Thu May 21, 2009 7:03 pm

The ultimate open-source handheld device, Pandora, is getting closer and closer to release date. Pandora runs Linux. When Linux port of Shadowgrounds is done, maybe it could be ported to Pandora?

Pandora specs wrote:
  • ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux (can actually run at 900MHz)
  • 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core
  • PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware
  • 800x480 4.3" 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD
  • Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls
  • 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad
  • Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output
  • 256Mb RAM

Shadowgrounds minimum requirements wrote:
  • CPU 1.3-1.5 GHz
  • RAM: 384 MB
  • GPU: GeForce 4 Ti 4200 or ATi Radeon 9000 or better
1 GB free hard drive space

Those shadowgrounds requirements are for Windows and single-core CPU. With Linux, 2 CPUs, and reduced graphics quality Pandora might be able to run it. What do you think?

At least it sounds interesting. ^^

It's like PSP or DS or some other pocket "console" but it is actually pocket PC. 8)

Just found this from http://www.arm.com/products/CPUs/ARM_Cortex-A8.html:
With the ability to scale in speed from 600MHz to greater than 1GHz, the Cortex-A8 processor can meet the requirements for power-optimized mobile devices needing operation in less than 300mW; and performance-optimized consumer applications requiring 2000 Dhrystone MIPS. [emphasis mine]

To be honest, I don't see this is a very big possibility at the moment. The Linux versions are now out though (see the IGIOS homepage).

Is it available now because this thread is quite old so I think it must released now. Am I right?? Because I would like to have one. It really looks cool. Can I pre-order it??

michelsteeve, I believe you are a (very stealthy) spammer and I have deactivated your account and deleted two of your posts. If you are not a spammer then please get in touch with me via email (see the top part of the page) and I'll apologize. It seems like you became active a couple of days ago and have been posting various "vague" posts on gaming forums since but at the end of the day your posts don't really make much sense...
