Which camera mode do you play in?

This poll is really just for fun. :) I've played a bit in both free camera mode and default non-free camera mode. I'm just curious which mode players prefer. I guess free-camera mode in theory is "better," but so far I seem to be playing more clumsily in that mode.

Very good question. I personally prefer the Free Camera, although I've played a lot in the locked camera too (because of testing).

We had quite a bit of discussions here at the office on the subject of "which camera is default". We and our publishers eventually decided to make the non-free camera default. It's kind of a shame in the sense that most people never even realize that there's another camera mode, which is really much different and could be better for some gamers.

Oh well. Both are ok so it's just down to preference... :P

Free Camera

Free camera! You can see all the cool shadow and particle effects from a better view. FC also makes the targeting more challenging. :)

I like at locked camera a lot but I also prefer modded free camera what I have tweaked up. Check my poll where reads WTH in topic's title. You should find the settings from there.

And that is quite good camera mode indeed. =)
Not all of you have äää's and ööö's :P

Since buying the full version, I've stuck with the free camera. It looks a bit cooler than from top-down. I certainly do better (ie the aliens don't swarm on top of me quite so fast) in the top-down mode, so I can see them wanting that as the default mode. I'm getting my tush kicked in normal mode in the areas past the demo levels, and I think it's partially my still being clumsy in free camera mode.

I think some sort of simple optional in-game tutorial mode that explained:
-The two camera modes and the benefits and drawbacks of each
-Instructed you on upgrades, though it's easy enough to understand
-That you can shoot green crates to pick up ammo and items
-That explains respawns and where they rez you, and that maybe explained when the game actually does save (I can't tell if the game saves after long cutscenes, or if it only saves just before the "splash screen" for the next mission).

Might help clarify some things for new players. :)

It saves before/during the next mission splash screen.

But yeah you're right, there should've been a tutorial. It's just too easy to forget when you play the game everyday.

well, my first experience with the free camera mode (used gamepad)
was in 1 word TOTALY F*CKED UP!
it was very anoying to effectively aim at the enemy
since sometimes i had to make a full circle to aim at the enemy again....
i might not have tried every aspect of it but first experience was bad :P
w00t w00t w00t w00t w00t w00t w00t w00t w00t
