Just in case you're not aware, there are people installing this via Desura (myself included) who're still encountering this problem. Perhaps it's not as resolved as you'd hoped.

Did they use the correct version (update 4)? The binaries in the latest version should be:

Code: Select all

5608224 May 30  2011 trine-bin32
6198472 May 30  2011 trine-bin64

Are they running the installer as root? That is not supported and might break things (creates ~/.frozenbyte with incorrect permissions)

32bit binary size matches what you've posed (64 bit binaries aren't distributed to a 32 bit client).

The Desura version doesn't use an installer (unless something different is being done from what I've done when publishing an app on Desura). The main menu says it's version 1.08.

Check ownership and permissions of all directories in and under ~/.frozenbyte.

Owner and group are the current user, with read and write permissions.

~/.frozenbyte didn't exist prior to adding the game on Desura (on my girlfriend's machine at least - I can delete my .frozenbyte folder and do a fresh Desura install to confirm if you like).

I've noticed some odd updating of Trine on Desura (rolling back to older versions and then updating to newer versions with old dates). Is this a sign that the problem is being looked into?
