Download (The Cursed Path v1.03) 3.87MB

Note 1: All screenshots are include in the .zip in addition with a readme.txt and an installer. (Always scan all files you download with your own anti-virus before using them.)

Note 2: If you want to see the videos when playing, you will need to copy the "Videos" folder.
from ...\Shadowgrounds\Data\Videos
to ...\Shadowgrounds\Mods\The_Cursed_Path_v102\Data\Videos
This is not "necessary", to be able to play this mod but this is always more interesting to be able to see the videos. ;)

Enjoy! ;)

Awesome! I really like the graphics style, especially in the Log menu. I also like how you used the big weapon renders in the in-game gui, very nice (maybe we should've done that in the original game!). Not sure what I think of the blood, but at least there's lots of it. ;)

If you want the Level Editor Beta 4, just let me know. If you're all exhausted now, it might be worth waiting for the final release (probably next week).

Word for everyone testing this: If you have any patches or Level Editor Beta stuff installed, you should rename this mod's Data2.fbz to Data4.fbz. After the final Level Editor release the fbz files are reserved for official patches and mods will use the \Mods\yourmod\Data directory structure.

Thanks for your comments and for the mirror. :)
I just hope this mod doesn't enter in conflict with the current beta of the editor, i will wait till the editor release and i will update the mod to make sure it doesn't enter in conflict with the game.

Mirror links are always useful thanks but i think it will be more interesting on the next version, this one is just the first look in waiting for the editor.

Note to fb_joel: Just thinking and yes i would really appreciate the beta editor, at least i could begin to learn a little. I'm not really fast to learn in general so this could give me a hand. :P

Sent. It's very close to the final release, mostly just missing some mod instructions for end-users and such. And the Editor might not display the Group tool circle.

And the work-in-progress documentation is at
http://www.shadowgroundsgame.com/new/in ... ge=editor2

Good luck. :)

Now that patch 1.04 is launched, it means that this mod can be converted to the new way of distributing mods as described in the documentation Joel?

Holy, i just found how to fix the computer screens problem. :( I'm sorry if you downloaded the version 1.02, it was a waste of time if you are with a 56k. But i think it's better to post a new update than nothing. ;)

Enjoy!

Hmm the new mod system doesn't support simple modifications to the original missions I suppose. We'll have to figure out how this should be handled... the problem is that the Steam version will not be able to use mods that use the old structure, and in general it's a bit more cumbersome. I'm not sure, but it might be possible to make the mod use the videos from the original dir...

For example, Data\Locales\Common\cinematic_m1.txt has a line
cinematic_screen_intro_window_video = Data/Videos/Cinematic/en/Introduction.wmv

This defines the video file... I have no idea if it supports ".." but if it does, then ../../Data/Videos/Cinematic/en/Introduction.wmv could work and remove the need to manually copy the video files. I'll confirm this on Monday.

Cool menu screen btw. :)

thanks ;)

hmm, yes the new mods system doesn't support the general "Data" folder located in the Shadowgrounds directory. It's why it doesn't look for the videos and animated textures like the computer screens. So if someone is planning to make a mod and is getting the same problem as me with the computer screens, just include the "Textures" folder in your mod located in Shadowgrounds\Data\. :roll:

(I'm not sure about the Missions folder, the patch seem to replace a few files so the game should probably use them instead of those in Shadowgrounds\Data\).

########################################

hmm, just thinking,
if we change the video locations in: cinematic_m1.txt, etc. it will cause some problems for people with other game languages, right ?

i suppose the english game version use example:
cinematic_screen_intro_window_video = Data/Videos/Cinematic/en/Introduction.wmv

and the french version:
cinematic_screen_intro_window_video = Data/Videos/Cinematic/fr/Introduction.wmv

? :roll:

Actually, no. That's how you would assume it would work... but alas, all the versions simply use the \en\ dir for the videos. Same with speech, i.e. \Data\Sounds\Speech .

Anyways, we'll check this out today.

http://www.shadowgroundsgame.com/help_m ... opatch.zip

That has all the video files (except main menu videos) with the new Mods dir structure. I tested it with the intro and the Mission 10 intro. I will also include this somehow in the official release of the Level Editor. :)

May I ask which software you used to create the installer? I used the Nullsoft installer before, but this one looks tidy, except that it doesn't take the install path from the registry.

oh, great :) thanks for the patch.

Hedgehog, i used winrar for the installer, this is just a sfx executable with some tweaks this is why it doesn't add any key in the registry and why i made a .bat to do a manual uninstaller, :P nothing professional but it help for new people who don't know too much about a pc.

you can find winrar on: http://www.rarlab.com/ :wink:
