Brute Slayer question

Postby ZedPower » Thu Nov 15, 2007 10:56 pm

Is the Brute Slayer supposed to execute without any sound effects? I wish I could hear at least the gunshot, and the brute slamming into the floor, but I'm not sure if the absence of sound is a stylistic choice or a bug.

I hear a big music score when I do it, and I think there's a little "paff" noise from the pistol. I didn't get any other sound effects, though.

I hear nothing save the overly dramatic music.

Hmm. We'll fix this in the first patch.

I also noticed that when the "jumping" animation kicks in, the flashlight turns off, and when it cuts back to your guy on the ground after you've killed the BS the lamp is still off.

Not a big deal really, but I did notice it. ;)

And on the Valley level the camera zoomed in really close once and all I could see was a close-up of the ground, not the animation of my guy standing on the monster's head.

also, is the brute slayer suppose to have a percentage to fail? It says in the description that there will be serious consequences if the skill fails, but I've used the skill over a dozen times already in sucession

It doesn't fail in its current incarnation. The text describes the old design for it... we may try to introduce it back in an update but it remains to be seen and I won't promise it.

Personally I like how it never fails. If there was a chance it would fail and put you in a dangerous position, you might as well just keep your distance and use a rocket or two.

Any plans to update the description text for the Brute Slayer? Also, I like the mechanic but personally feel the animation takes too long. Sometimes its faster killing them the old fashioned way than to use the Brute Slayer as a quick kill.

I agree: the "Brute Slayer" animation is definitely too long and it would be nice if we could either skip it or speed it up.
