"Trine 2 haiku" competition (ended Oct 27th)

Postby FB_Lauri » Thu Oct 14, 2010 4:13 pm

Entry to the competition has ended!

"Trine 2 haiku" competition - Get your haiku to appear in the game and win amazing Trine 2 postcards! :)

Alright folks, we have launched a simple writing competition: Trine 2 haiku! A haiku is a poem written with 5, 7 and 5 syllables on three lines.

Here's one example:

Waiting for Trine Two
Hoping for fast completion
I want it so much

Divided into syllables it goes like this:

Wait-ing for Trine Two
Hop-ing for fast com-ple-tion
I want it so much

You can read more about haiku poems at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku . To check if your haiku written correctly you can use Lyric Hyphenator at http://juiciobrennan.com/hyphenator/

To participate, write your Trine 2 haiku to us by Twitter (@Frozenbyte), replying here on the forums, or by e-mailing to competitions [at] frozenbyte.com. When using Twitter, remember to add #trine2haiku. Submit your haiku no later than October 27th, 2010. After the deadline we will open a poll where everyone can vote for the winner.

The winning haiku gets into the game!

Update: the likely place of use inside the game is in the artwork of the game, for example a large stone statue which has inscriptions on it. However, the haiku does not need to match any particular place as it would be used in a "easter egg" manner. Please note: it might be any piece of artwork where our artists see the haiku fits, so it might be another competition to find the winning haiku from the game. :D

Update 2: and of course winner gets a free copy of Trine 2! (winner can choose from any of the platforms)

We will also award the winner with a selection of Trine 2 postcards with our own haikus and signatures of the team.

You can submit up to three haikus. All foul play is prohibited and solely judged by Frozenbyte.

Here's a photo of the postcard prizes (they look even better in real life!):

And thanks to [email protected] over at CheapAssGamer for the idea! (Yeah we stalk online.)

Oh, that's some coincidence for sure! :D

We tend to search for conversations regarding our games and the idea came from the discussion at http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/sho ... ?p=7688177 , post #135. :)

I guess haikus are a hot topic right now, we also found out there's some kind of haiku game...

Back to the topic, there's already a few nice entrys but there's still plenty of time for everyone to participate! 8)

Uhh... Trine and... haiku?
Now that's surprising. i can't find any connection between those things or even something that make sense why a haiku... but oh well. As you may notice already, my english sucks, so, there is no chance for me to win even T-shirt. Friend of mine, tho, thinks that his english is superior, thus, he made this:

A hero of the sword
A mage in starred robe
A graceful thief.

The destiny of three
Always together be
Will they succeed this time?

A three unlikely hero
Will they defeat the evil?
The Trine stood still.

^-> this proves he sucks even more @ english, lol.

knight, thief and wizard
together fight great evil
bound by great power

--

souls bound together
evil mayhem everywhere
adventure at heart

--

darkness still abounds
the dead still rise in the night
the three must vanquish

--Not an entry :P--
Trine 2 is almost
anticipation is high
dibs on the wizard

How will you check for the guys who create accounts only to over-vote their haikus so they can win, if all members here can vote??

Heh, it's always a possibility, but we will monitor suspicious activity (it's quite easy to spot one haiku drawing only fresh member votes) :)

Also, we will ourselved pick a "developer's choice" winner as well :D
