SG crashing to desktop

Postby Neuvos » Tue May 08, 2007 6:17 pm

Yo!

When i start to play Shadowgrounds, it loads the level but after minute or two it crashes to desktop... Sometimes it crashes at the movie.
The first few levels seems to work fine...

I have tried different video/audiosettings, resolution with no help.

Patch 1.05 installed.

systemspecs:

AMD AthlonXP3000 @ 2254MHz
1Gt DDR400
NVidia GeForce7600GT 512Mt
Epox 8k9a7i (integ. audio)

EDIT: OS WinXP SP2

No heatproblems.

Can any1 help me?

Thx in advance!

Well, i tried patch 1.04 and it seems to work somehow better than 1.05(sounds pretty odd to me). I could play game to the end...
I got "only" 1 BSOD after pressing ESC during gameplay, but no other problems.

Have you tried updating your drivers?

Sounds like a hardware and/or software conflict. Not that I know these things for certain, but in my experience getting the newest drivers and closing down any resource hungry or otherwise dominating programs (things that keep steaing the program focus, etc.) while playing could just solve the problem.

Sounds odd... I would have suspected overheating (either CPU and or GPU, that's possible too) but I guess that's not the case. (Even weirder that patch 1.04 had a more positive effect than 1.05.)

Anyway, I'm glad you were able to finish the game.

I've got a similar problem now that I'm running Shadowgrounds on my GTS 8800. It's probably related to Nvidia's driver's but I'm getting crashouts to the windows desktop after several minutes of play. I'm currently running version 1.5. I wouldn't worry too much about this though, I've already finished your game five times over. :)

We'll have to see if there's some kind of issues with fast nVidia cards before the release of Survivor... Still sounds very odd but I guess anything is possible in the world of computing. :)
