Game crashes to desktop after main menu.
System:
Asus A7n8x w/ 1GiB Corsair RAM
AMD 2700+
nVidia GeForce 3
WD Raptor HD 74GiB
All the latest official drivers.
I get into the game, see the menu, click new game, single player, medium, it shows the load screen, then crashes to the desktop.
Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem and also have a Geforce 3. I find it kind of suprising that it's supposed to be 'too old'. The Need for Speed: Most Wanted demo runs like a charm and so does basically any other game. Some kind of error message or something would at least be nice to give a hint as to what's going wrong. I hope it isn't a Graphics Card issue because if so, I just wasted some of my hard earned cash on a game I can't play.
game crashes
same problem .....geforce MX 440...there is no patch or fix? I tried the very low resolution but it didnt work

My game has worked fine until the 'activation of the spaceship' mission where you gotta do small missions to put that ship alive... So i have to enter 'delta labs' and after i have killed some 4 cannon mobs and i walk along the hallway the PC reboots itself
(i think it changed to cineamtics on the moment)
Well, i was little pissed so i tried again and redid the mission and the same thing happened again ^^
Im using
AMD 3000+
nVidia GeForce4 TI 4800 SE (got all newest drivers)
Ram 1gig
After bo0ting these files had something to do with it... well i dunno...
C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9c41.dir00\Mini111905-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9c41.dir0\sysdata.xml
